A number of the country's smaller scale firms have seen an increase in their business costs, new research suggests, in a development which may interest UK contractors.
Of those polled in a survey by the Forum of Private Business (FPB) last month, 37 per cent reported a rise in the amount it is costing them to do business, before tax is taken into account.
Meanwhile, 28 per cent of respondents to the Economy Watch study feel that tax in the UK is currently greater than it should be.
Matt Goodman, head of policy at the FPB, noted the impact that the forthcoming emergency Budget could have on smaller companies.
He stated: "Running a business and controlling costs can be difficult.
"The government's emphasis must be on helping entrepreneurs to run their businesses more effectively."
Earlier this month, the organisation also outlined some of the options that are available to employers which might help them to deal with the impact of the World Cup.
