Small businesses, such as UK contractors, may be in line to benefit from new government proposals which are aiming to address their regulatory burden.
Among the plans revealed earlier this week by Vince Cable, the coalition's business secretary, is the idea to set up a new Reducing Regulation Committee which would look into the costs of regulation.
Meanwhile, proposals for a 'one in, one out' regulatory system have also been put forward by the minister.
Mr Cable believes that the country's environmental commitments will still need to be dealt with, alongside this reduction in business regulation.
He commented: "The government has wide-ranging social and ecological goals including protecting consumers and protecting the environment.
"This requires increased social responsibility on the part of businesses and individuals."
Last month, David Frost, the British Chambers of Commerce director general, suggested that the next financial Budget should tackle the issue of business red tape.
