Businesses encouraged to focus on employee health

The issue of employee health and wellbeing is one that businesses need to be aware of, according to one expert.

Head of good practice services at Acas, Gill Trevelyan, believes that stress is also something that firms will need to keep an eye out for in the near future.

She commented: "All businesses and organisations should be concerned with the health, work and wellbeing of their employees if they want them to give their best."

Meanwhile, firms that offer contractor services might also want to note the expert's views concerning the need for staff to enjoy a good work-life balance.

Ms Trevelyan suggests that it is not healthy for work to completely dominate a person's life.

Neil Shah, director of the Stress Management Society, has also recently highlighted the health dangers that stress can pose.

Employers may need to educate their staff about stress-related problems, he commented earlier this month.
