The UK's IT sector could see a number of its employees relocate elsewhere due to things like contract rate reductions, a new survey suggests.
According to figures published by the IT Job Board, as many as 76 per cent of people polled feel the country's IT industry may witness a 'brain drain' in future.
A reduction in contract rates could be one cause of this, 28 per cent of those surveyed believe.
The IT Job Board's operations manager Adam Stokes commented: "Contract rate reductions, for example, have proven to be a quick way of making savings during a short period of time, and during the recession, there has also been a real concern over long-term career prospects."
He added that UK workers may look to head abroad as their skills are quite easy to transfer in some cases.
In total, 39 per cent of those questioned in the survey also believe that offshoring could lead to a 'brain drain' in the UK IT sector.
