While the pay received by contract staff in the UK went up last month, the rate at which it grew eased, new research suggests, which may interest contractor workers.
According to the new Report on Jobs released by KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the wages of permanent members of staff also rose in May, but at a reduced pace.
Meanwhile, the organisations' research has shown that the four-week period also saw another growth in the number of permanent staff placements.
REC's chief executive Kevin Green commented that there are various sectors which are currently seeing strong levels of demand for staff.
He stated: "Professional recruiters have identified a number of job categories - including accountants, HR professionals, software developers and chefs - where suitable candidates are in high demand."
In other news, Newton's director and co-founder Andrew Hawes has this week suggested that a number of firms may be choosing to avoid taking on new staff at the moment.
