Some of the country's employers appear to be keeping a closer eye on the punctuality of their workers in the current financial climate, new research suggests, which may interest contractor firms.
As many as 39 per cent of those responding to a recent survey published by CareerBuilder.co.uk are now said to be scrutinising the timekeeping of their workforce more.
The poll has also revealed that employees who turn up late on two or three occasions might face the sack from 15 per cent of respondents.
Managing director at the website Tony Roy has emphasised the need for workers to organise themselves properly.
He stated: "Arriving late can impact perceptions of your professionalism and reliability not only in the eyes of your employer, but in the eyes of your co-workers."
James Carmody, principal at Reculver Solicitors, has recently suggested that employers should adopt a consistent approach when dealing with employees who are late for work.
